The Hampton Soccer Club offers a Referee-in-Training program as a way for interested Club players to gain experience with small sided, 'in-house' games with players from the u7u8 age groups.  Training and game-time supervision / mentoring is provided by adult coordinators, adult USSF certified referees and older Club players who are also certified referees.

Usual progression of youth referees within the Hampton Soccer Club:
     >> Referee-in-Training  Level I  ('RIT') - online, classroom and on-field training to start (12+ year olds)
     >> RIT  shadowing  -  new RITs work with an existing RIT until comfortable
     >> RIT  Level II  (Assistant Referee ('AR') to a USSF certified referee for u10 in-house games on Saturdays)
     >> RIT Level II as 'club lines person'  (assist the when certified referees are not available - call in / out and direction only)
     >> USSF  Certified  Referee - "Grassroots" (entry level) (must be 13 years old for in-person class)
     >> RIT  Manager  -  Certified Referee, 15 years old

The Referee-in-Training (RIT) training schedule has been modified to go hand-in-hand with USSF certification / recertification calendar.   RIT training sign-up will usually be in the January / February timeframe;  RIT classroom training will usually be conducted in late February or March;  the on-field training will be conducted 1 hour before the first game of the Spring season usually in April.
